River Deep, Mountain High by Ike & Tina Turner is featured in Duets, the fourth episode of Season Two. It is sung by Mercedes and Santana as their song for the duet competition to win a free dinner at Breadstix. Santana insisted that they team up for the duet since their performance of The Boy Is Mine was a smash.

However, they lost the competition to Sam and Quinn so Santana was verbally upset. They seem to have bonded before and after this song, as the Glee Club is surprised and enjoyed the duet.
